About Us
Grannies Who Care’s vision is to assist mothers with new born babies in hospital.
The vision of this ministry is to generate the love of Jesus by meeting the immediate needs ofthe mother and her new born baby.
Grannies Who Care is a registered Non-Profit organization that was founded in June 2012, by a handful of grannies who aspired to reach out to those in need to their community.
The Non-Profit organisation assist with the following Public benefits:
This group of grannies began knitting and sewing blankets with a personalised designed label on each of the parcels delivered to the residents of the Kalafong Hospital which is zoned for the Centurion residents.
The parcel is individually packed with items such as a blanket, baby-grow, knitted beanie and socks
and a toiletry item which are distributed to the mothers in the maternity ward.
Currently up to 190 parcels are handed out per visit, to the approximately 90 beds in the maternity,
ward, including a special parcel that is distributed to each mother.
Parcels are also delivered to the Kangaroo Ward specialising in care of the mothers and their premature babies. There are approximately 32 babies within this ward.
The children’s ward with up to 45 children in the ward is also visited by the Grannies and each child also receives a parcel with a blanket, beanie and a fluffy or knitted toy.
Mamelodi Hospital has been added to the list for the monthly visits with parcelled packages for the residents and the babies. There are currently 18 babies in the Neo natal ward. Many of the Senior citizens involved in this project and giving of their time find it very rewarding
and it gives them great joy and fulfilment to be involved with the project.
